Anxiety disorders are the most common mental illness in the United States and affect 40 million adults 18 and older. According to the National Institute for Mental Health, “People with generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) display excessive anxiety or worry, most days for at least 6 months, about a number of things such as personal health, work, social interactions, and everyday routine life circumstances. The fear and anxiety can cause significant problems in areas of their life, such as social interactions, school, and work.”  These symptoms include:

  • Feeling restless, wound-up, or on-edge
  • Being easily fatigued or irritated
  • Difficulty concentrating; mind going blank
  • Muscle tension
  • Difficulty controlling feelings of worry
  • Sleep problems, such as difficulty falling or staying asleep, restlessness, or unsatisfying sleep

Standard medical treatment for anxiety can come with dependency and lead to a likelihood of abuse when taking things like benzodiazepines, Klonopin, or Xanax. Many anxiety sufferers are now turning to CBD oil. There are several ways to treat anxiety using CBD oil and it’s even making waves in the pet industry as an alternative treatment for dog anxiety.

The traditional ways of using CBD oil are often sought after when treating anxiety. However, there are alternatives to help promote relaxation. You don’t always have to ingest CBD to benefit. For example, you can take a relaxing bath using a CBD bath bomb or CBD soak then layer on some lotion before bed. The CBD industry has also seen a lot of body balms, hand and body wash, as well as candles and aromatherapy oils hit the market that can help those that suffer from anxiety and help you create a soothing atmosphere at home.
